Welcome to our World of Inland Boating
25 years at Stenson
Midland Canal Centre was established in 1986 when Stenson Marina was acquired, along with a small hire fleet, by Eddie & Marion Baldwin. Their two sons, Dean and Paul, joined the family business and today run the production and repair of boats at Stenson.
Marine servicing was introduced and boatbuilding quickly followed with the setting up of a 5000sq.ft steel fabrication workshop producing steel hulls. A reputation was built for Stenson Boats on quality and good value for money, a successful formula still adopted by the business today. MCC have lead the way in introducing technology into a traditional craft industry with CNC plasma cutting of steel and CNC routers optimisimg efficiency but maintaining the traditional craft skills.
With the ongoing increase in travel costs and committment to environment, recent focus has centred on providing more waterside recreation for the local region with provision of holiday facilities both on and by the waterside. The Lock Cottage coffee shop was the first step in this development, with the provision of refreshments for walkers and visitors to Stenson Lock and the adjacent canal. Day hire boats are now available for people to obtain first hand experience of the canals and spend a few moments in a bygone age.
A policy of friendly and attentative service for all our customers is commensurate with what is expected from a family run business and what we shall continue to deliver.
